ABOUT ACADEMIC SENATE COMMITTEES
This page contains a list and description of non-stipended academic senate committee positions to which the UCLA Graduate Students Association makes yearly appointments. All appointments listed here are made by the GSA Vice President of Academic Affairs. Appointments are made before the beginning of the academic year. Serving on an Academic Senate committee is a great way to have an impact on the classroom experience and the overall shape of the university.
COMMITTEES ON ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AND POLICIES
COMMITTEE ON CONTINUING & COMMUNITY EDUCATION (CCCE)
9 members: including one representative each from the Committee on Undergraduate Courses and Curricula and the Graduate Council, and the Dean of University Extension ex-officio.
1 GSA representative.
COMMITTEE ON INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS
5 members plus the Faculty Athletic Representative for UCLA ex officio as a non-voting member.

This committee is responsible for oversight and development of policy recommendations on academic matters involving intercollegiate athletics including:
COMMITTEE ON INSTRUCTION & TECHNOLOGY (CIT)
The committee is charged with representing all Senate and Faculty interest in online education, as well as all other potential issues surrounding instructional technology. The overarching purview of the committee is to ensure that any steps taken to adopt online courses, or additional means of instructional technology, serve to enhance the quality of UCLA’s programs and do not cause the academic quality of the university’s instructional programs to suffer.
This is to be an independent committee of the Academic Senate (i.e. not a sub-committee of any other committee or council currently existing as part of the Academic Senate).
With respect to membership, there are to be seven voting members, as well as one non-voting ex-officio member:
COMMITTEE ON TEACHING (CoT)
This committee is a 9-member board that meets every quarter at UCLA. Within the 9 members, there is 1 UCLA Graduate Students Association Representative that is appointed by the GSA Vice President of Academic Affairs.
