Rally at UC Regents Meeting - Wednesday, March 14, 2007
Join us at 12:30pm on March 14, 2007, at Covel Commons as we hold an action
to let the Regents know how raising fees affect your life.
The UCLA Admissions Coalition is asking you to come out and call on the
Regents to address the following key issues impacting students:
- Increasing Student Fees
- Decline in Academic Preparation Funding
- Diversity Crisis study
UC Students Demand that the Regents:

End or buy out the fee increase of 7% for undergrads and academic
graduate students and 10% for some professional students
-
Reinstate funding for Academic Preparation programs to $33 million
dollars.

Finish their Diversity Study by May 2007 in order to implement
recommendations as soon as possible.
BACKGROUND
Since 2001, fees have increased 79% for undergrads, 84% for grads, and up
to 131% for professional students. Last year the UC Regents voted to
increase fees again but UCSA and students across the state worked to get
the Governor to buyout the UC fee increase!
During the UC Regents meeting on March 14th & 15th at UCLA the Regents
will vote on a proposal to increase YOUR fees once again!
Students must let the UC Regents know that fees are already unaffordable!
Fee increases have forced UC students to take on unmanageable loan debt,
work excessive hours, and has deterred students from going into the public
sector. A UC education is inaccessible to California's diverse youth
population and it is only becoming a mechanism for debt instead of
opportunity.
It's time for the UC Regents to take a stand for UC Students!
TAKE ACTION NOW!
Let the UC Regents know why they need to vote against another fee
increase. Send an email TODAY letting them know how increases in fees have
affected you and your family. Don't forget to have your parents and family
members send one too.
Now is the time to TAKE ACTION!
