LA Premiere: BODY TEMPERATURE (Takaomi Ogata, 2011)

Event Date: October 13, 2011 - 7:30pm

Location: The James Bridges Theater, Melnitz Hall 1409, UCLA

Rintaro (Chavetaro Ishizaki) is a lonely guy who lives with a life-size sex doll named Ibuki (played, at times, by Rin Sakuragi). As far as Rintaro is concerned, his relationship is completely normal. He eats with the doll, goes on dates and enjoys numerous “intimate” moments with her. But once Ritaro decides to “cheat” with a real woman, his latex fantasy life begins to unravel.

"There is something beautiful about Body Temperature — which is a weird thing to say about a film that deals with sex dolls. Despite this plot point, the movie is humanistic in its exploration of relationships — both mutual and one-sided."
- Robert Saucedo, INSIDE PULSE

"Ogata chooses to dwell on moments, often with long steady shots. This strengthens our understanding of Rintaro’s world. There are no moments of outside criticism, no moments of being bullied or being ostracized as a social outcast. Rintaro exists fully in his world, oblivious to whatever may be occurring in the real world." - Travis Keune, WE ARE MOVIE GEEKS

"One of the greatest gifts cinema can give us is the ability to stare without interruption at the private lives of other human beings. We can look on without being seen and witness the moment-to-moment activities that make up another persons day. This often means confronting painful truths about ourselves or at the very least being forced to empathize with an individual we might not ordinarily invest our time trying to understand." - DAILY GRINDHOUSE
