Ken Russell called it “the greatest science-fiction film since METROPOLIS.” He wasn't kidding. The single greatest American theatrical motion picture experience ever realized, controversial director Paul Verhoeven (TOTAL RECALL, SOLDIER OF ORANGE) brought ROBOCOP to life as an effects-laden work of science fiction with a satirical edge that has since become a cult classic phenomenon. The film features a resurrected and roboticized hero (Peter Weller) in a supercharged cyborg body, struggling to reclaim his memory and avenge his own death. Written by UCLA alumni Ed Neumeier (STARSHIP TROOPERS) and Michael Miner (BOOK OF STARS), the film is a superhero fantasy come to vivid, bloody life.

“Robocop is as tightly worked as a film can be, not a moment or line wasted.” –Variety

“Most thriller and special-effects movies come right off the assembly line. You can call out every development in advance, and usually be right. ROBOCOP is a thriller with a difference.” –Roger Ebert, Chicago-Sun Times

“A genuine classic, a unique blend of violence, humor, poignancy, and imagination.” –John J. Puccio, Movie Metropolis

“Verhoeven strives for bloodcurdling, darkly comic eloquence. He gives us heart with the hardware. Savagery with smarts.” –Rita Kempley, Washington Post

“Smart, satirical and nefariously vicious, this is easily one of the finest sci-fi flicks of the 1980s.” –Scott Weinberg, eFilmCritic.com

“Despite a level of lurid violence that may offend many, this movie has a motor humming inside. It’s been assembled with ferocious, gleeful expertise, crammed with humor, cynicism and jolts of energy. In many ways, it’s the best action movie of the year.” –Michael Wilmington, Los Angeles Times
