Fanny was born and raised in San Francisco, California and moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to pursue her M.A. and Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Education and Information Science at UCLA. Her research interests focuses on second-generation immigrants in higher education, specifically looking at the interdependent relationships between immigrant parents in the service sector and their children and how their integral roles within the family shapes the decision-making during college that impacts their retention and academic success.
