Originally from Miami, Florida, Andrew moved to Los Angeles in 2007 to pursue his interest in film. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Virginia, where he majored in history and minored in astronomy. After a year of aimless wandering, he moved to New York where he taught science at a high school in East Harlem for the next four years and spent two summers conducting chemistry research at Columbia University. After taking time off for extended backpacking trips through Southeast Asia and South America, Andrew enrolled in UCLA’s MA program in Cinema and Media Studies. His research focuses on avant-garde cinema, which he supports locally through volunteer work for Los Angeles Filmforum.
Quirky fact about Andrew:
One of Andrew’s favorite film-going experiences took place in a theater in Phnom Penh where he watched a Thai horror-comedy dubbed into Khmer with English subtitles amidst a throng of screaming Cambodian teenagers.
