Funding |
Funding - OverviewGSA allocates predetermined, large-scale funding primarily to Melnitz Movies, the Publications program and the Sustainable Resource Center (formerly the Environmental Coalition). Graduate student groups seeking significant financial support should note that the primary funding bodies such as the Campus Programs Committee, for example, have substantially more resources available. Information can be obtained from the Program Activities Board web site, or you can email the Center for Student Programming at csp@ucla.edu. Below you will find brief descriptions of the funding sources within GSA itself. Students wishing to request a refund of their GSA fees should see the ASUCLA GSA Compulsory Fee Refund Application (PDF). GSA has an online handbook which describes all the functions of the Student Government Accounting office. This handbook can help out councils, the central office, sponsored programs, and anyone who recieves funding from the Discretionary Funding program. Funds for departmental grad activities and expenses are available through the Councils. Allocations must be approved at Council meetings and the complete paperwork, along with receipts, should be submitted to the GSA Vice President Internal for cosigning. Checks are issued either for advances or reimbursements. Make sure to contact your Council directly to find out what funds are available and under what terms or conditions. Your departmental graduate reps should regularly attend your Council meetings in order to avoid missing deadlines for funding applications, allocations meetings and other important events. Student Interest Board Funding The student interest board member groups are eligible for funding. Please contact the GSA President for more information. The Director of Discretionary Funding has a small annual budget from which grants can be made to support graduate student sponsored events, workshops, conferences, and suchlike. The Director of Publications is responsible for the provision of funds to support graduate student sponsored academic publications. The GSA Financial Report contains the complete to-date expenditures and allocations for all GSA funds. The report is updated weekly. |
