UCLA Academic Technology Services seeks a part-time Statistical Consultant to join the Statistical Consulting Group.
Work with other consultants to advise campus researchers, including faculty, graduate students and staff, on statistical, methodological and data management issues. Provide campus-wide expertise on the use of statistical packages such as SAS, Stata, SPSS and Mplus, via walk-in consulting. Develop web pages on statistical computing issues. Keep current with advances in applied statistics by learning new statistical packages and techniques.

PROGRAMMER/ANALYST II
DUTIES & TASKS
Advise, in conjunction with other ATS consultants, faculty, graduate students and staff on statistical, methodological and data analytical issues. Identify statistical issues in research problems and suggest and discuss suitable solutions. Offer strategies in selecting and using software for data analysis and management. Assist moving data between various environments. Write clear and concise documentation (web pages) on topics in statistical computing and data management.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Demonstrated working knowledge of statistics and statistical computing software such as SAS, Stata, SPSS and Mplus, among others, and their roles in various disciplines on campus. Demonstrated expertise in SAS, Stata or SPSS. Ability to advise faculty, professional researchers in the solution of difficult statistical, methodological and large database problems. Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise publication quality documentation on topics in statistical computing and data management. Demonstrated communications skills to evaluate and resolve statistical and general computing problems for ATS clients, staff and the scientific community. Working knowledge of the Windows operating system and the major applications that are utilized in a university environment including: editors, common utility programs, web browsers, FTP, data storage techniques and related software.
