GSA Resolution Regarding Transportation ServicesWHEREAS, the UCLA Graduate Students Association (GSA) represents over 10,000 graduate and professional students at UCLA, and WHEREAS, students deserve access to the campus, and WHEREAS, the UCLA Transportation Services department oversees all parking and transportation options provided by UCLA; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the UCLA GSA states that the vision and mission of Transportation Services must be to provide access to campus which involves not only self owned passenger vehicles but other forms of transportation including but not limited to buses, carpools, bicycling, walking, and other self-propelled modes of transportation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the UCLA GSA calls upon Transportation Services to devote sufficient time and resources to providing viable alternative modes of transportation and maintain a safe environment for all users of alternative transportation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the UCLA GSA requests that Transportation Services provides a means for funding BruinGo as an alternative mode of transportation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the UCLA GSA strongly recommends that Transportation Services implement the provision of municipal bus service on the grounds of UCLA in order to encourage alternative modes of transportation and to maximize the safety of the users of alternative transportation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the UCLA GSA strongly recommends that Transportation Services advocate for creation of rush hour bus lanes on and off campus in order to encourage use of buses as an alternative transportation during rush hour. |
