Community Relations Director
Mara Braciszewski has been an organizer for many types of movements: immigrant rights, union, political and neighborhood block organizing. As Community Relations Director for G.S.A., she represents graduate students and works to transition Westwood Village to become an environment for UCLA students. Students have been marginalized for over 30 years now from their own college campus, which will change with Mara’s vision for the Village. Through placemaking projects, murals, art, music and coordinated activities, the Village will be reimagined as a destination and a student cultural center. Projects such as this will support local businesses in the battle against e-commerce, and also bring organizations together to become one inclusive, cohesive community.
Mara is in her first-year master’s program at UCLA for Urban Design and Urban and Regional Planning. Her pedagogic focuses are inclusive design, mixed use development, placemaking, street vendors, walkable cities and homelessness. Mara is bilingual in Spanish and English and would like to learn Arabic during her time at UCLA.
