Apply now for Academic Senate Appointments

Applications for appointees to Academic Senate Committees for 2008-09 are now available. These positions include Council on Planning and Budget, Education Abroad, Graduate Council, Intercollegiate Athletics, Teaching, Library, Research, Academic, Diversity and Equal Opportunity, Faculty and Welfare. Call for Graduate Orientation Volunteers

If you're a *returning* UCLA graduate student, who's eager to help out at the Graduate Student Orientation this year, WE NEED YOU! On Friday, September 19, 2008, the Graduate Students Association (GSA) and the Graduate Student Resource Center (GSRC) will be hosting UCLA's annual campus-wide Graduate Student Orientation. We'll be welcoming OVER A THOUSAND new graduate students to UCLA with a full day of panels and workshops, as well as an ASUCLA-sponsored lunch, a choice of campus tours, and a resource fair with representatives from across campus. To top off an exciting day of activities, the GSA will be hosting a GradParty at Pauley Pavilion -- for new AND returning graduate students!

We're looking for returning graduate students to sit on panels, to serve as tour guides, and to be generally available on event day. In particular, we're looking for as many all-day volunteers as possible (especially those with AV-tech experience)! For those of you who are available during event week, we're also looking for help putting together registration packets at the GSRC.

UC Systemwide Committee Vacancies: Apply Now!

As the official voice of the UC students, UCSA nominates students to sit on UC systemwide committees. These committees deal with critical policy issues that affect every student in the UC system (e.g. admissions policy, budget prioritization, and technology investments). It is vital that UC students have strong representatives on these committees. UCSA is *still accepting applications* for some 2008-2009 systemwide committee appointments. Systemwide Committee Representatives will be nominated by the UCSA Board of Directors and serve a term beginning in June 2008 and ending in May 2009. Vacant committees right now are: University Committee on Library and Scholarly Activity, UC Undergraduate Experience Survey (UCUES)Steering Cmte, Informational Technology and Telecommunications, California Student Aid Grant Advisory Cmte, Academic Freedom. Got Web Skills? Apply to be GSA Webmaster

We're seeking a new webmaster for the 2008-2009 academic year. The webmaster updates pages on the GSA website and administers tools such as the online reservations system, web calendar, photo gallery, webmail, and listservs. He or she works closely with the Director of Communication to publicize news and events on the web and promote a professional and unified GSA graphic identity. Occasionally he or she meets with GSA officers or staff to train them on the use of web tools or plan new projects. Workload averages around 5 hours a week. Stipend is $350 per month. End-of-Year Celebration

UCLA Sustainable Resource Center Logo Contest

The UCLA Sustainable Resource Center, a program run by GSA, is looking to build a strong graphic identity. But in order to do that, we need a logo that reflects who we are. Applications Available for Stipended Appointments

The UCLA Graduate Students Association is accepting applications for stipended appointments for the next academic year (2008-2009). Each position carries a quarterly stipend of $600-$1300! Positions include both GSA Cabinet Directors and Campus-Wide Committees. If you have a passion to serve, advocate for, and represent graduate students, we sincerely urge you to apply. Nominations Sought for Distinguished Service Awards

The UCLA Graduate Students Association annually gives out two awards, the Jeffrey L. Hanson Distinguished Service Award and the James LuValle Distinguished Service Award, to recognize individuals who serve the needs and interests of graduate students.
