UCLA Sustainable Resource Center Logo Contest

The UCLA Sustainable Resource Center, a program run by GSA, is looking to build a strong graphic identity. But in order to do that, we need a logo that reflects who we are. The Sustainable Resource Center Logo Competition will provide a $500 cash prize to the student who assists us in creating a fresh and professional new look (submissions due May 19). Applications Available for Stipended Appointments

The UCLA Graduate Students Association is accepting applications for stipended appointments for the next academic year (2008-2009). Each position carries a quarterly stipend of $600-$1300! Positions include both GSA Cabinet Directors and Campus-Wide Committees. If you have a passion to serve, advocate for, and represent graduate students, we sincerely urge you to apply. ALL current and incoming UCLA graduate students are eligible! Mandatory on-campus interviews will be held on May 19th and 21st. The deadline for application is MAY 16, 5:00 PM. Nominations Sought for Distinguished Service Awards

The UCLA Graduate Students Association annually gives out two awards, the Jeffrey L. Hanson Distinguished Service Award and the James LuValle Distinguished Service Award, to recognize individuals who serve the needs and interests of graduate students. 2008 Election Results

The winners of the 2008 GSA Elections have been announced. Congratulations to Jamal Madni (President), Ryan Roberts (Vice President of Internal Affairs), Monica Sanchez (Vice President of External Affairs), and Argus Sun (Vice President of Academic Affairs). Speak-out against Fee Hikes

GSA VP External Monica Sanchez and nine grad student delegates are busy advocating for grad and professional students this month. First they will attend the UC Students Association Board Meeting (Feb. 29), UC Lobby Conference (March 1-3), and UC Day (March 4), all in Sacramento. Then they will be representing us at the UC Regents Meeting in San Francisco (March 18-20). In order to keep fees down and services up, they need your voice! Fill out a postcard to speak out against fee hikes and enrollment growth halt (http://www.ucsa.org/toolkit/08BudgetPostcard.php) , or sign-up to speak in the public comment or whitelining sessions at the UC Regents Meeting. The UC Students Association is organizing student advocates for the upcoming UC Regents meeting in San Francisco. The Regents are slated to discuss student fee increases, cuts to student mental health, and cuts to graduate student support. If you have experiences to share or are otherwise interested in advocating for UCSA positions, request to be a whiteliner or participate in the public comment session.
