Marissa is a Ph.D. candidate in Geophysics and Space Physics. Her thesis topic is Jupiter's magnetosphere and aurora. She has previously served as a GSA appointee to the Academic Senate's Council on Planning and Budget (2007-2008), and as a member and Chair (2008-2009) of the ASUCLA Communications Board.
About the photo: Marissa is in the Swiss National Museum in Zurich, constructing her very own hand-made Swiss Army Knife.
