Designing Healthy Communities Screening and DiscussionCome to Public Affairs 2355 on Wednesday May 9th from 6-8:30pm to see a one hour screening of the PBS series "Designing Healthy Communities," followed by a open discussion with Dr. Richard Jackson of the UCLA School of Public Health.
In his four-part public television series and the accompanying book,
Dr. Jackson explains the link between our health and the way our
communities - especially our suburbs - are designed. Obesity, asthma,
diabetes and heart disease are all aggravated by the auto-centric way we
live our lives today. It's no secret that today's generation of
children are likely to have shorter lives than their parents because of
their unhealthy lifestyles. It doesn't have to be this way. Dr. Jackson
explains how well-designed communities can improve both Refreshments will be served. Open to all UCLA students that RSVP here: http://bit.ly/H9JRRK. This event is co-sponsored by the SRC, Sustainable Urban Network, and the UCLA Department of Environmental Health Sciences. showed about graduate students' sustainable habits at Weyburn Terrace.
Although some of those numbers are high, see if you can top those
numbers. One way to start is by viewing Green Guide to Sustainable Living at UCLA. Another way would be to buy a box of locally produced vegetables from the South Central Farmers.
