COE's mission is to provide asthmatic youth from the inner city and urban areas with the opportunity utilize reading skills and scientific knowledge to assist in self-management of their asthmatic illness. COE believes that by enabling children to competently follow instructions throughout life, they become athletically involved with the willingness to exercise, and develop aspirations beyond the confines of their economically challenged and environmentally compromised living conditions. By providing these youth with access to wholesome events and activities outside their limited travel range, COE exposes them to positive possibilities, which broadens their perspective in making life choices, contributes toward building their positive self-image, and counters the negative spiral toward a non-productive life.
