LOGO CONTEST

Do you have a background in art or a passion for graphic design?
Are you looking to build a portfolio before you graduate?
Do you want to leave your mark on UCLA?

If so--the UCLA Sustainable Resource Center needs your help!

The UCLA Sustainable Resource Center is looking to build a strong graphic identity, but in order to do that--we need a logo that reflects who we are. The Sustainable Resource Center Logo Competition will provide a $500 cash prize to the student who assists us in creating a fresh and professional new look.

Eligibility: As the UCLA Sustainable Resource Center is a graduate student run organization, we feel that the logo should be designed by a UCLA graduate student. All graduate level students currently enrolled at UCLA are eligible and encouraged to submit a design. Entrants may submit as many entries to the competition as he or she wishes, but a separate entry form must accompany each logo submission.

Submission Process: Please download the entry form (Word DOC), fill it out and submit it along with your original logo design printed on 8 1/2" x 11" paper.  All entries should also be submitted in screen resolution via email to the Sustainable Resource Center at src@gsa.asucla.ucla.edu .  The winner will be required to furnish us with an electronic copy of the winning logo (in .eps, .ai or compatible vector-based format).  We may request small changes to the logo from the winning candidate.

Deadline: All submissions must be received by the Sustainable Resource Center by 5:00p.m.on May 19, 2008. No late submissions will be considered.

Selection Process: Each entry will be judged by a panel of the Sustainable Resource Center Founder and Current Director.  The winner will be selected based upon the artistic quality of the design and the way(s) in which it symbolizes the Sustainable Resource Center. The winner will be notified in writing and an announcement will be posted on this website. These results will be posted by May 23.

Award: The winner will receive a $500 cash prize and the opportunity to have their design used on the UCLA Sustainable Resource Center website, marketing materials, and signage.

Logo Submission Guidelines

* All submissions must meet the following criteria. Any logo submitted that does not meet this criteria will be disqualified. If no submission meets these guidelines, a winner may not be selected.

  1. The logo must be designed by a currently enrolled graduate level UCLA student.
  2. The logo must have a Contemporary and/or Professional look/feel. We want to be viewed as a professional organization, NOT as a student group.
  3. The logo should be compatible with the graphic identities of UCLA and the Graduate Students Association, but reflect our unique identity.
  4. The logo should contain the current UCLA logo (available at identity.ucla.edu to those connected to the UCLA campus network or on UCLA VPN).
  5. The logo must be versatile. It will be used on our website, business cards, letterhead, marketing materials, and signage--and should be easy to adapt for each of the different media.
  6. Preferred colors for the logo are dark or light blue, yellow, and green. Other colors can be used, as long as the logo is able to remain compatible with the graphic identities of UCLA and GSA. See the new GSA logo
