Positions.

The GSA Elections are held each year for four positions: President, Vice President-Internal Affairs, Vice President-External Affairs, and Vice President-Academic Affairs. ​Descriptions of officer duties are listed in the sample application below, or click the button to learn. All the elected officers also earn a monthly stipend.

Eligibility.

All registered graduate or professional students in good standing are eligible to run for one of the four positions listed above.

Voting Procedure.

​The election will utilize ranked-choice voting. Please watch this short video to familiarize yourself with ranked-choice voting, which will be used for the VP-External and VP-Academic positions. The Candidates and Referendum language are below.

All enrolled graduate and professional students will be able to cast their ballot through MyUCLA from April 17 at 12PM to April 23 at 12PM.

The Graduate Students Association (GSA) plays an important role in the promotion of graduate students' interests on this campus and within the University of California. Thank you for your interest in running for a position or proposing a referendum.

​Elections Application Timeline

March 7th, 2024	Application available. Referenda applications available.
March 24th, 2024	Referenda applications due at 12PM (Noon) PST
April 5th, 2024	Position applications due at 12PM (Noon) PST
April 8th, 2024	Mandatory Candidate & Campaign Orientation Meeting 7PM-8PM PST
April 17th, 2024	Voting begins 12PM PST on MyUCLA
April 23rd, 2024	Voting end at 12PM PST on MyUCLA
April 24th, 2024	Elections Board meeting to address grievances and approve of final results

GSA Cabinet

The Cabinet shall be the committee to oversee the daily operations of the GSA with the GSA President a the chair. The GSA Cabinet consists of the four elected officers and those Directors who have been approved by the Forum (Director of Discretionary Funds, Director of Melnitz Movies, Director of Publications, Director of Graduate Events, Director of Communication, Director of Diversity, Director of Administrative Affairs). ​All cabinet members are voting members and shall be entitled to a stipend.
